DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS:
Economics department was Established of UG in 1993-94 and PG in 2023-24 academic session. Department hosts Honours and PG programs where the total student intake capacity is 64 and 16 respectively. Every 3-year degree course is examined under semester system where 2 semesters constitute one academic year. During the course the students are examined under 6 semesters. In PG courses there are a total of 4 semesters for 2 years. The course curriculum is designed according to CBCS guidelines and is affiliated to Berhampur University. Admission to UG/PG courses is conducted by SAMS portal designed by Govt. of Odisha. The classes are held in offline mode. 75% percentage of attendance has been made mandatory for students to be eligible to appear in end term examinations. In case of unfulfillment of attendance criteria, college administration informs the guardian through parent teacher meetings.
Curricular Activities
1. Seminar paper presentation on 4th Saturday of every month in Economics department
2. Apart from regular classes, surprise examinations are periodically held
3. Group discussions interactive sessions are organized
Achievements
1. 12:1 student to faculty ratio for personal mentorship in UG courses per year
2. Numerous students are service holders in Govt. of Odisha and Govt. of India. Moreover, students are also involved in Private sector, journalism, NGO, print media, politics, Naval sector and defense sector.
